Happy New Year!

Spencer and I started the year off right with a fabulous trip to New York and Connecticut! We had a great Christmas in the Bay Area with both our families. (We do the holiday shuffle). However, on the 27th we traded one coast for the other and went to NYC. We were there until the 3rd and felt lucky to make it back safely before the west coast storms closed the airports. We stayed with some friends out in Connecticut, where I used to live, but spent most of our time in the city. I LOVE New York at Christmas! I have such great memories of being there as a kid and it was so so fun to be there with Spencer. We saw and did so much. We were on the go morning to night. I am so proud of my pregnant self for being such a good traveler and having as much energy as the energizer bunny to make the most of being in NYC. Let's here it for the 2nd trimester!

We also spent some time in Connecticut which was absolutely lovely and totally surreal. I haven't been back since I was 15. It was so strange to see everything with"grown-up eyes." I took Spencer to our old house and we even went traipsing through the woods. Everything was just how I remembered except on a smaller scale. We got to the waterfall and I couldn't believe how small it actually is. I always thought it was huge! The only thing that was really as big and dangerous as I remember was the sled run. We had a giant hill where my dad had cut some of the trees down to make the run better. Oh MY GOSH!!!! I cannot believe my parents let us go down that hill. It's about 25 yards long, trees and rocks everywhere, so steep that we had a to use a rope to climb back up and a giant tree right smack in the middle at the bottom. I was shocked, still am, and proud to say that even though I busted a solid wood toboggan sled on one of those trees no one ever got hurt.

LOVE the pictures! And, thanks for the Christmas card! I didn't have your address, so your card is coming late. Also, I am so jealous of your NY trip! I love NY! You look great!

Just to set the record straight; the tree at the bottom of the sled run had bales of hay around it so you would not get hurt, and the rocks were covered with snow, and it was steep and also covered with snow so it would be really, really, fun! My favorite part about those days was that there were snow days with no school. We would stay in our pj's drink hot chocolate, call our friends to come over, build snowmen, do angels, and go down the most awesome sled run in town! And all the while your mom would be saying"Be Careful" or "jeez jim!"
thank goodness for memories!!!
