Palm Desert

On May 13th we headed down to Palm Desert for a week. I LOVE the desert in May. After being in UT for way too long we wanted to go somewhere and just bake in the heat for a while. Palm Desert fit the bill perfectly. We rented a little villa at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort and invited Carly to come hangout for the weekend and do some babysitting. Spencer and I gifted ourselves an afternoon at the Spa and sang "Happy Graduation to Us" the whole time. It was great.

Our room was right by the river that flows through the golf course and LOTS of ducks live there. Ryan was in heaven as he was in a major duck phase. We ate breakfast outside with the ducks every day. Some even came through the fence and on to the porch. I couldn't resist catching one.

We swam between naps and before dinner and Ryan was in heaven. He loves the pool (I couldn't be prouder). He puts his face in and can almost blow bubbles and will jump off the side. SO CUTE!

The biggest news of the week was that he officially started walking! He had been "walking" for a good month or so, but had yet to fully commit to it. Well, I guess the water fountains were good motivation because one day he just took off. It was so cute. I LOVE that he is walking and now almost running every where. It's just so cute.

All in all it was a great "vacation." I put vacation in quotes because we are learning about "vacationing" with a baby/toddler. Basically, there is no such thing. I also decided that it's not truely a vacation without my Dad there. My dad is a hard worker and likes things to be neat and clean so...I missed him doing the cleaning up and such. I decided that if I want a true vacation I either need to leave Ryan at home or take my parents with me. My mom can take care of Ryan and my dad will do all the dishes and cleaning up. It would be PERFECT! However it was fun to go on our first "Hill Family Vacation."
